PaK 40 Anti-tank Guns

PaK 40s, more from the Panzer Lehr fold. I went with simple dunkelgelb without any camo...much prefer it, especially on things with lots of small details like ATGs.

They have proved to be...completely useless so far. In their last game they missed five out of six shots deploying in ambush at point-blank range. Things can (I hope) only improve.

Off to paint now....

  1. Very nice work as expected.:-)I've been toying with getting some for my Germans as well as I like the miniatures quite a bit.

  2. Thanks Christopher. To be honest I don't really enjoy painting guns: it's a base of infantry and a quire detailed gun which is still only one team.

Still, these didn't come out too badly.

  3. Indeed, they came out very nice!

I'm similar to you in that I prefer painting infantry over vehicles.

Another thing is your consistent in your theme for FOW in that both your vehicles and infantry are bright and ultra clean and while it's not realistic it still is very pleasing to the eye and quite striking giving you a very recognizable trade mark.

I'm a bit of an oddball in that I paint my infantry dark and clean, but I prefer my vehicles a bit worn and dirty(not muddy as that does not work at 15mm very well)and leaning dark shades.

  4. I use to try and do the whole weathering thing, but I could never get it to work well-enough.

Recently I've accepted that I have my style and, while I don't think it is the best by any means, it's what I do well, so I'll stick to it.

  5. I think your mini's are very nice!Your Luftwaffe is my favorite unit in FOW.:-)
No one style is the best.In this I mean vehicles need not be weathered to be considered good, and realism isn't a requirement.
Models should and mostly are judged by the intent of the artist. For example if he trying to paint a weathered vehicle then his efforts should be judged on those lines as to the degree of success. The same if he trying to paint a clean miniature. When it comes to painting an ultra clean miniature then your miniatures are without a doubt right up there with the best and that is how your mini's are viewed. You produce top quality miniatures,so smile.:-)
