Soviet Greatcoat Rifle Platoon

Soviet 15mm infantry in greatcoats, figures by Battlefront. OOP now, of course...

This platoon was done with four squads, each of 10 men and a Junior Leader: enough for the Chain of Command Winter Storm Campaign (6th Panzer and the drive on Stalingrad). Of course, they'll work for IABSM too when required.

Leaders were done for Chain of Command, and additional ones added for IABSM purposes. The numbers are spare decals placed on a small squares of painted green stuff: I like clarity in 15mm scale, and this instantly shows the relevant Command Initiatives available. I still have a couple more leaders to add for completion.

Soviet Snowsuit SMG Platoon

One platoon of them, though I've painted two platoons, each with 3x 8-man Squads. Sufficient for two platoons in IABSM, and having enough figures for a full SMG platoon for CoC. Figures by Battlefront, the old Scouts/Spetsnaz blister.

I need to find my black paper background for photography...white-wearing figures with white basing on a white background: genius.

Some dedicated leaders were also done so I don't have to use greatcoat wearing figures.

Soviet Infantry Guns & Support Weapons

Winter infantry guns, here the M43 version of the Soviet 76mm regimental gun. Figures by Forged in Battle. While I would have liked the older, obr 1927 version BF can no longer be bothered to make it.

These figures are obviously in summer uniforms, but by painting balaclavas and gloves they have been "winterised" to some degree. Junior Leader included for Chain of Command, or a Level II Big Man for I Ain't Been Shot, Mum!.

Similarly, some support weapons were given the same treatment: a couple of Maxim MMGs and Anti-tank rifles (cheers Mike), an observer team and a (dubious) 50mm light mortar team modified from a US 60mm mortar and a few spare plastic Soviet gun crews...which will have to suffice until I get a proper one. All Battlefront figures here.

Winter T-34s

Winter scheme T-34s - the first platoon, at least. Models by Battlefront.

The scheme is base loosely on stills from British Pathé, technically on an OT-34 flame tank, but I liked the scheme so used it here.

And yes, like a muppet I glued the exhausts on upside-down...
